SpiralFrog……and our variation

So, as you may have seen on your tellyboxes last night, music on the internet is now going to be FREE thanks to SpiralFrog and their new friends at Universal. Naturally, this will end piracy, stop file sharing and save the music business. How clever!

It’s so crazy and simple it's even given us an idea.

Please feel free to circulate this genuine offer to all and sundry

CALLING ALL INDEPENDENT ONLINE RETAILERS.

Do you sell your niche product to a small but dedicated group of people?

We’re talking about a customer base in the region of 100 people to 20 thousand people.

Nice, niche stuff.

Well we, Friends of the Stars, also have a niche product that we want to sell to a small but dedicated group of people.

Perhaps we could talk? Here’s what we propose.

If you give us $10, we’ll send you 5 tracks from our forthcoming album. You can then distribute these 5 tracks to your small but dedicated group of customers free of charge, free of DRM and with our absolute permission.

You can send these songs as a goodwill gesture to existing clients, or use them as part of an offer for a new product. It's your $10, so it's your call.

Please feel free to tell your small but dedicated group of customers they can do with the music what they wish. They can share it, they can burn it to CD, and they can even ignore and delete it should they wish.

Moreover, if you’d like to send us a sample of your product, then please do so. If we like it, we’ll take a picture of one of the band with your product. We’ll send you this picture and, if you wish, you can distribute it to your small but dedicated group of customers along with the music. We’ll also post the picture here….and (once again if we like it) endorse your product.

Email info@friendsofthestars.co.uk for more information.

'I'm the best there is....'

Some more hip hop for you....

Here's Timbaland and Jay-Z at work in the studio.

This clip is a great insight into the creative process of a style of music that is a million miles away from ours, but anyone who makes music will certainly relate to the moment when Jay-Z realises that Timabland has come up with 'the one'.

Sometimes you can spend all day getting one tiny thing right, or not getting it right as the case may be. However, if you happen to be someone of Timbaland's abilities then you generally get it right!

Enjoy

This clips is taken from the Jay-Z Fade To Black DVD.

Snakes?....on a plane?.....

Blimey O' muthafucking Reilly!

Snakes!

On a plane!

(Are there any bearded lads from Luton involved?)

Seriously kids, What would you do?

I think I'm with my man Sam on this one; My motherfucking reaction would be defined by my desire to get them motherfucking snakes off my motherfucking plane.

If any motherfuckers got in my way.....well. Those motherfuckers would get dealt with.

Pronto.

Prontomente.

I'll tell you something else as well...If anyone else got in my way, like the Credulity Police for example, I'd have to pop a cap in their ass. The punk-ass motherfuckers. And stuff etc.

Do you see any snakes on this motherfucking blog?

Treadmills in Pop

Has anyone ever utilised 8 treadmills in a pop video before?

No, I don't believe anyone ever has...

OK Go....

(This is the bit where I should write something about how MTV is 25 years old, and how back in the day those savvy enough to see it's potential took full advantage and changed the way people consume music. Then I would go on to say something about how we're in the same boat now with 'community sites' such as YouTube, and how there are opportunities for similarly savvy people. Then in accordance with the law I'd be forced to mention Myspace and it's role in the success of Artic Monkeys and Lily Allen. However, there are already 9 million articles about this, so let's just enjoy the video and learn the moves, eh?)

Seagal: An Update

So........after the initial exictement of finding out that Steven Seagal was playing here in September we were understandably mortified to find that the show had SOLD OUT.

BUT........it appears that public demand for Steven Seagal and Thunderbox is such that the promoters have seen sense and added a 4pm Matinee show on the very same day, 20th September. I am pleased to announce that we have secured tickets for this show and will be going there all mob handed and stuff. Ridiculous excitement prevents us from further comment at this stage but suffice to say a full report (with photos etc) will appear here in due course.

Incidentally, Under Siege has just started on BBC1. Now that, folks, is proper spooky
